Best Job Ever

According to my sources, my call is processed and coming soon. “Soon” could mean today or tomorrow, but it’ll most likely come on Wednesday. I’m so excited for this opportunity I have to serve the Lord, spread the gospel, meet new people, and just everything about it!

So, if any of you don’t know, I have the best job ever.

Well, when I say best job ever, I don’t mean “guy who goes to work and parties all day”. HECK no. That would be nice. Actually, I work quite hard (obviously, that’s where I’m writing this from J ), but I was SO blessed to find this job. Here’s why:

1. I work full time, from 8 to 5.
2. I’m a temp (until March, or “whenever I leave for my mission”)
3. I am paid rather well.
4. I have to iron dress shirts all the time (good practice?)
5. I can go to lunch with my bro Shawn every day.
6. I can listen to music all day (most of the time, it’s scripture mastery)
7. I get my own desk.
8. I get a full hour for lunch (taken whenever I please)

Isn’t that perfect? I didn’t find a job all summer. I put in over 100 applications, with no response. The Lord knows what he’s doing!! I wouldn’t have found this perfect job if I had another one! Sometimes you don’t know why something’s happening to you. As Joel Osteen said, “Maybe something’s not happening to you. It might be happening for you.

Ed ora, aspettiamo....

I know mission calls are supposed to come on Wednesday. They almost always do, and they always have. But my stake president said a little something to me during my interview. One little thing, and now it's all I can think about:

"They don't always come on Wednesdays."

WHAT!? So NOW,  I can't just excitedly get the mail one day a week! I have to go every single day "just in case"! It's okay though. :)  As impatient as I may seem, I know the Lord knows what he's doing.

Anyway, there IS more to my life right now than preparing for a mission. Granted, you might not know that from talking to my family, but nonetheless, it is true. Even so, there just seems to be a lot to do, right? I mean, not the "going on a mission" part, but the "I'm going to be gone for two years, then come back and just keep going where I left off" part. Basically, I've narrowed it down to a "to-do list" if you will:

- Put the crap from my room in a box in the basement
- Store my passwords (and my beloved iTunes library) on a flash drive
- Get my bank account squared away

And.....there's got to be more, right?! Other than the obvious stuff (shopping for supplies, hanging out with friends to say goodbye's), which I really can't do until I get my call anyway, what is there to do? That's what I want to know from you guys. :) What else should I do to get ready? Am I missing something painfully obvious? Post a comment below!

For anyone who thought I had turned in my papers, you were wrong until right now. NOW, they are in. Odds are, I'll be getting my call this Wednesday or the next. Where will this news be posted? Right here!

Nerve wracking...

Finally, I've gotten my papers turned in! Sort of. I have one more interview (Wednesday) then they're off to church headquarters!

Now,  I'd like to address those people who say "Don't be nervous, the Lord will take care of you." Yeah, I know that. But isn't it a little freaky to think you could go to any of the places listed HERE?

I'm ready, though. :)

It begins.

The first post in any blog, journal, Facebook, or what have you, will always tend to be on the awkward side. Basically, the sort of thing you write about will tend to steer the direction it will go for as long as you're writing on it.

Since I've got the next two years pretty much planned, though, I think I'll manage.

If you're reading this, chances are that you already know that I'm going on a mission soon. Where? Who knows! I haven't gotten my call yet. I'll definitely post that information here as soon as I get it.

It's true, my main motivation in starting this blog is to keep all of my loyal henchmen updated while I'm gone, but don't think that just because you're reading this, you're off the hook. Oh no, you still need to write me. I can't believe you even thought that.

As I was saying, my lovely sister-in-law Rhoda has enthusiastically volunteered to post some of the experiences/pictures/stories/near-death-experiences that occur while I'm in parts unknown (or known, I'm not really sure yet). However, it will be me posting until the day I go into the MTC. :)
